Dentures

Dentures are a popular treatment for the replacement of missing teeth and surrounding tissues. At the Preston Dental Center, we offer a number of dentures options, including both full and partial varieties, as well as implant-supported dentures for added security. Dentures are both aesthetically pleasing and capable of restoring your ability to chew and talk with confidence. Full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Full Dentures

Full dentures, also referred to as complete dentures, are designed for patients missing all of their teeth. Whenever possible, our cosmetic dentists will try to retain any existing natural teeth, as fastening dentures to one or two such teeth can greatly increase their stability. In the event that no teeth can be saved, another option for securing the prosthesis is to use implants.

Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has been given time to heal. Generally, conventional dentures are fitted about 8 to 12 weeks after the final diseased or damaged teeth have been removed.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures, also called dental bridges, are used to replace one or more missing teeth. A fixed partial denture is placed between two dental crowns that are installed on either side of the bridge. Partial dentures not only fill the space created by missing teeth, but they also prevent other teeth from changing position.

Implant-supported Dentures

Many patients experience difficulty wearing or getting used to full dentures. They may have trouble chewing and speaking with confidence and sore spots may develop. Over time, the ridges of the mouth that support the dentures will shrink, making it more and more difficult to keep them in place. Therefore, dentures supported with dental implants offer a major improvement in both fit and function.

Implant-supported dentures free wearers from the worry that they will slip or fall out. Dentures supported by dental implants also have smaller bases, meaning that they look more natural and feel more comfortable. Inlays and Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays are cosmetic restorations that are used to repair teeth with mild decay. A less invasive alternative to dental crowns, inlays and onlays are tooth-colored and are often used to replace metal amalgam fillings. At the Preston Dental Center, our skilled cosmetic dentists will carefully evaluate the state of your mouth, weigh your goals, and identify the restorative dentistry option or options that will best rejuvenate your mouth’s aesthetics and health.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Since inlays and onlays are made from tooth-colored materials, they are virtually undetectable and are capable of creating beautiful, radiant smiles. Other advantages of dental inlays and onlays include:
