Cosmetic Dentistry Available at the Preston Dental Center

Cosmetic dentistry treatments are designed to revitalize your smile's appearance and health. Our featured treatment options include:

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are crafted from thin, tooth-colored shells of porcelain that are bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth to correct stains and chips. Since the quality of dental porcelain has improved dramatically over the last decade, veneers have acquired a translucence that makes them nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are among the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments available and have helped countless of our Raleigh, Durham, and Cary-area patients improve their smiles.

Zoom!® Teeth Whitening

Zoom!® teeth whitening is quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures performed at Preston Dental Center. Just about anyone who has had teeth stained yellow or brown from food, drink, or tobacco can benefit from teeth whitening.
Drs. Greg and Lisa Mayes offer both in-office and take-home teeth whitening systems and can talk to you during your consultation to help you decide which one is right for you.

Porcelain Crowns, Dental Bridges, and Composite Fillings

Porcelain crowns, dental bridges, and composite fillings are restorative options that help you achieve a dazzling smile. Porcelain crowns are designed to cover entire teeth and protect them from damage and disease; meanwhile, a dental bridge is simply an artificial tooth suspended by two crowns. Composite fillings correct caries (cavities) without compromising the mouth's appearance. Restorations of the past, such as amalgam fillings and older crowns, were made of metal and often unsightly. These new cosmetic dentistry treatments can be made entirely from durable tooth-colored porcelain; thus, they blend in seamlessly with surrounding teeth for a result that is both healthy and beautiful.

If you are interested in any of the treatments mentioned above, contact our dentists and schedule an examination. Serving the Greater Raleigh and Durham areas from our state-of-the-art Cary office, we provide exceptional cosmetic dentistry services to patients throughout the state. Contact Drs. Greg and Lisa Mayes today to schedule your consultation.

Dental Care after a Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure

Once you have experienced cosmetic dentistry at Preston Dental Center, the most important thing you can do is to take good care of your new smile. If you do so, you can enjoy the benefits of your cosmetic dentistry treatment for years to come.

If your teeth have changed in size or shape due to the application of crowns or porcelain veneers, your new bite may feel odd at first. Give your brain and muscles a few days to adjust to the new bite; the unfamiliar feeling should go away. If your “new” teeth still feel too large or tall, contact Preston Dental Center and we will take a look at them. Any discomfort that you feel after treatment can generally be controlled with over-the-counter pain relievers or through medication prescribed to you by Drs. Greg and Lisa Mayes. If your gums are sore, try rinsing with warm salt water three times daily.

The most important post-dentistry treatment is daily dental hygiene. Be sure to brush twice daily, floss, and stay current with any checkup appointments you’ve scheduled. Try to avoid chewing on sticky or hard substances like candy, ice, pencils, or your fingernails. If you smoke, now is a great time to quit; otherwise, you’ll quickly stain your new dental work yellow.
